Nathan did not come out of a consulting firm. He came off the floor of aerospace manufacturing — one of the most process-disciplined environments on earth, where a sloppy procedure is not an inconvenience, it is a safety finding. Nathan spent over a decade there, earned a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and obtained his AS9100 Lead Auditor certification.

What struck him was how little of that discipline ever reaches small businesses. A hundred-million-dollar plant has documented processes, real financial reporting and someone whose entire job is finding waste. A twelve-person company has none of it, and nobody is coming to install it — the firms that do this work start their clock at companies worth millions.

So he left to bring it down to the businesses that never had access to it. His title is Operational Architect. Clients usually call him a business consultant, and that is fine — the difference is that he does not stop at the recommendation. He goes in and builds the structure: the books, the systems, the digital presence, the way the company is set up to grow.

Sigma believes small companies deserve the same rigor private equity reserves for the ones it buys. Some engagements are a straight fee. Some become partnerships where I take a stake in the outcome. Either way the standard is the same: build strong, scale smart.
